Meet AYMY Foundation
Education and opportunities to build the future
Our mission: accompany, educate and transform
At AYMY we believe in the power of education and training to change lives. We don't just offer a safe home to children in vulnerable situations, but we also work to ensure they have access to education and tools that allow them to grow with independence and strengthen their community.
Our pillars of action:
Local development
Sustainable projects that generate community impact (like our bakery).
Protection
A safe home for children at risk.
Education
Access to school and professional training.
Our History
AYMY was born in 2010, following Haiti's devastating earthquake that left thousands of children homeless and at risk of falling into exploitation networks. Lucía Lantero found a group of Haitian children surviving on the streets in Pedernales (Dominican Republic); some were enslaved children, and others were fleeing their country's poverty, suffering all kinds of abuse (rape, mistreatment...). Lucía felt she had to do something for them, and faced with abandonment by local authorities and NGOs operating in the area, she decided to take care of their most basic needs for shelter and food.
Today, from our Home in Anse-à-Pitres, AYMY is a model of local development based on education and self-sufficiency, where each child not only finds safety and love, but also tools to build their future.

Lucía Lantero: AYMY's founder
Lucía Lantero shares her experience at conferences and events around the world, conveying a message of resilience, commitment and action.
Her talks have moved and inspired companies, universities and organizations seeking to connect with real stories of social impact.

Education and training: the path to independence
Learning is the key to change. That's why at AYMY we champion education and professional training as engines of transformation.
Our programmes:
AYMY School: basic education so no child is left out of the school system.
Skills training: workshops and capacity building in practical skills.
Self-sustaining projects: like AYMY Bakery, which not only supplies the community but also provides employment and training.
Every child who learns, every young person who gets trained, contributes to strengthening their community.
