The AYMY Bakery
Renovation and expansion of the existing bakery and creation of a vocational training workshop
Objetive
Transform the current basic bakery into a professional operation that produces quality bread for sale, creating employment for local youth and generating sustainable income for AYMY.

In Anse-à-Pitres, families cross the border to the Dominican Republic to buy bread, paying bribes and losing money on currency exchange.
The AYMY bakery, which began in 2015 with primitive equipment (a basic oven, wooden table, ten trays), now feeds 320 people weekly with 1,440 loaves. But it can do much more.
With professional expansion, we'll create local jobs, eliminate border dependency, and turn this initiative into an economic engine for the entire community.

From survival to prosperity
The problem we're solving
Families in Anse-à-Pitres have no local access to fresh bread. They must:
- Cross the border to the Dominican Republic
- Pay bribes at checkpoints
- Exchange gourdes for pesos at unfavorable rates
- Risk themselves on a dangerous journey
The opportunity: Bread as an economic engine
In Haiti, bread is especially valuable because:
- It keeps without refrigeration in tropical heat
- It's essential during emergencies (no electricity for cooking)
- There's constant demand throughout the region

What we're building
Professional expansion in 3 phases:
Phase 1: Infrastructure ($15,873)
- New roof (current one has structural defects)
- Special room for dough fermentation
- Professional floors, paint, and doors
Phase 2: Equipment ($4,133)
- Industrial mixer and electric roller
- Professional utensils and metal molds
- Work uniforms for the team
Phase 3: Training ($2,281)
- 9-week course with Haitian master baker
- Training in professional techniques and management
- Preparation for work autonomy
The impact we'll achieve
Immediate beneficiaries:
- 320 people with access to fresh, affordable bread
- 6 young employees with complete professional training
- Neighboring communities without need to cross dangerous borders
Economic sustainability:
- Sales income that keeps the project running
- Dignified jobs for youth leaving the education system
- Family savings by eliminating border costs
Your support transforms lives
